Obituary

Newton, NH:  George W. Boucher, 84, a longtime resident of Newton, died on December 8, 2019 at the Rochester Manor, Rochester, NH, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Waltham, MA, the son of the late William J. and Fernande (Desharnais) Boucher, he was raised and educated in Lawrence, MA. He later attended Northern Essex Community College.

He served honorably in the United States Air Force as an Airman Second Class during the Korean War from 1952 until 1956 and was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal, The United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He later served in the U. S. Navy as a member of the Mobile Construction Battalion One at the time of the Vietnam War. Honorably discharged in 1968 he was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal with Combat Operations Insignia, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.   George worked as a carpenter primarily at Environmental Interior Inc. as a member of Local 111, Lawrence, of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, until his retirement in 1990.

George was a former member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary  and the American Legion, Carl Davis Post #32, Exeter, NH.  He enjoyed boating and was the owner of a President 37 ½ foot Tri-Cabin boat.  He enjoyed golfing in his younger years, camping and motorcycling. He was a member of the Good Sam Club and traveled to every state in the Continental United States in his motor home, and during his retirement years, he would spend his summers in Alaska and winters in Florida.

The widower of the late Mildred A. Flanagan, who died in 2007, he will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by two sons, William K. Boucher and his wife, Ruth of Lytle, TX and George J. "Jeff" Boucher and his wife, Audrey of Newton, NH; a daughter, Eliza A. Boucher of Newton, NH; two sisters, Louise Gillette and her husband, James of Deland, FL and Shirley Belanger and her husband, Al of Seabrook, NH; seven grandchildren, Todd Boucher, Jeffrey Boucher and his wife, Valerie, Nicole Boucher, William Boucher, Tiffany Boucher, Mariah Gavin and Amanda Puto; three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Ethan and Annabelle.  He was predeceased by two brothers, William Boucher and Robert Boucher; a sister, Carol Dion and a granddaughter, Alycia.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend George's Life Celebration to be held on Friday, December 13, 2019, from 6 to 8 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.  His Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at 10 AM in the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Newton, NH.
