Zybert, Jr.
February 8, 1931 – April 5, 2020
East Hampstead, NH: Zygmunt J. "Ziggy" Zybert, Jr., 89, a resident of East Hampstead for the last forty-seven years, died peacefully at home on Palm Sunday, April 5, 2020.
Born and raised in Chelsea, Massachusetts, son of the late Zygmunt and Frances (Racki) Zybert, he was a former member of Saint Stanislaus Parish in Chelsea and graduated Everett Vocational High School. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served as a Corporal in the United States Army from May 20, 1952 until May 19, 1954 and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Employed as a technician first at General Electric Co, he later worked for over twenty-five years at WHDH Channel 7 in Boston, until his retirement. He also operated his own home television repair service for several years.
A longtime member of Saint Anne's Parish in Hampstead, where he served as an usher for Sunday Masses, he was also a member of the Saint Maximillian Kolbe Council of the Knights Of Columbus and a Fourth Degree member of Bishop Peterson Assembly. He was also a former member of the Polish Americans' Veterans Club of Chelsea.
Mr. Zybert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and enjoyed spending his time with them. He was an avid gardener, and also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an accomplished cook and shared his special coleslaw and pork rub with his brother knights at their monthly dinners and was also noted for his famous Salsa made from the best tomatoes picked from his own garden.
Predeceased in 2017 by his beloved wife of sixty-four years, Barbara E (Faxon) Zybert, and also by his brother Francis "Frank" Zybert, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by four sons, Zygmunt J. "Ziggy" Zybert III, of Haverhill, MA, John H. Zybert and his wife, Diane of Manchester, Peter J. Zybert and his wife, Karen of Haverhill, and Michael A. Zybert and his wife Michelle of East Waterboro, Maine, four daughters, Elizabeth F. Sawicki and her husband, Richard of Tewksbury, MA, Barbara E. Roy and her husband Joseph of East Hampstead, Dianne M. Brasley and her husband , Maurice of Manchester, and Frances M. Rogers and her husband John of Hampstead, a brother John Zybert and his wife, Susan of Shrewsbury, MA, a sister-in-law Jean Zybert of Chelsea, also twenty grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Due to the National Health Emergency, a private family burial service with military honors will be held in Lakeview Cemetery, Hampstead, under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home of Plaistow, New Hampshire. A public Memorial Funeral Mass for relatives and friends, will take place at a later date in Saint Anne's Church, Emerson Avenue, Hampstead. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Liberty House Veterans Shelter, 75 West Baker St., Manchester, NH or to American Diabetes Association, 220 Cochituate Road, Suite 200, Framingham, MA.
