North Reading, MA: Willimena (Hill) McFarland, 94, formerly of Detroit, MI and Lowell, MA, died Sunday, April 2, 2017 at The Meadowview Health Center in North Reading.

Born in Claiborne, Alabama, daughter of the late Willie and Lucy (Jackson) Hill, she attended local schools and was a self-employed seamstress.

A longtime resident of Detroit, Michigan before moving back to the area three years ago, she enjoyed vegetable gardening and sharing news about her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was the former wife of the late Wilbert McFarland, and mother of the late Will McFarland, Jr. and David McFarland, and is survived by a daughter Doreane McFarland, of Methuen, three grand-daughters and their husbands, Tara and Erich Archer of Beverly, Kayla and Gregory Berube of Larchmont, NY and Audra McFarland and Ryan Knight of Boston, a grandson Ryan Peek of Methuen, great grandchildren, Collin, Sebastian, Caroline, Griffin and Toren, a sister Lorraine Acoff of Detroit and a brother Freddy Hill of Detroit and several nieces and nephews.

A private family funeral service will take place at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Jimmy Fund, c/o Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6 ^th Floor, Brookline, MA.
