IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William A.
Stanley
April 22, 1943 – February 7, 2022
William A. "Wild Bill" Stanley, 78, a resident of Atkinson for the past fifty years, died peacefully on February 7, 2022, at his home and surrounded by his loving family, following a long illness.
Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, son of the late William J. and Viola (Smith) Stanley, he was raised and educated in Groveland and graduated Pentucket Regional High School with the Class of 1962. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman First Class from 1963 until 1967 and was a recipient of the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Bill was employed for thirty-four years as a Systems Analyst and Programmer at Raytheon Co. until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of Saint Luke the Evangelist parish of Plaistow and the New Hampshire Fish and Game Association.
Known as "Wild Bill" to his family and many friends, he was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He enjoyed working outside, meticulously maintaining his yard, spending time with his grandchildren and hosting holiday cookouts for family and friends. He always looked forward to his monthly luncheons out with his former co-worker and their spouses, as well as camping at Point Sebago, and trips to Las Vegas. And sometime he enjoyed the simple pleasures of playing cards, especially 45's, while sipping on a "stinger".
Bill will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his loving and devoted wife of fifty-three years, Carol (Kotuli) Stanley, two daughters, Jennifer Indeglia of Derry, and Melissa Sanders of Sterling, MA, a sister JoAnne Lynch of York Beach Maine, three grandchildren Ashlyn Indeglia, Haley Sanders and Thomas Sanders, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandson Jared Indeglia and two sisters, Sandra Petrella and Gail Stanley.
The family would like to thank the Atkinson Fire Department and Elder Services of Atkinson for all of their support over the years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend 'Wild Bill's" Life Celebration to be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St, Plaistow, NH.
