Obituary


Hampstead, NH: William M. Smith, Sr., 61, a resident of Hampstead since 1985 and a former resident of Boston and Bridgewater, MA, died on November 18, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family following a battle with cancer.

Born in Boston and raised and educated in West Bridgewater, son of Dorothy L. (Morton) Smith and the late Albert A. Smith, he graduated from West Bridgewater High School with the Class of 1972. He graduated from Massasoit Community College in 1974 and went on to attend Southern Massachusetts University, which is now UMass Dartmouth.

Mr. Smith was employed most recently as Operation Manager for New Penn Motor Express. He had also been employed for US Airways as ramp supervisor for many years.

A member of St. Anne's Church in Hampstead, Mr. Smith most enjoyed spending time with his family and his late dog, Austin. An avid Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriots fan, he also enjoyed photography, traveling, and driving his Jeep Wrangler.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Pamela (Alvilhiera) Smith, his son, William M. Smith, Jr. of Hampstead, his daughter and son-in-law, Kristin L. and John LeFebvre, his mother, Dorothy L. (Morton) Smith and a sister, Susan Smith, both of Middleborough, MA, a grandson, Zachary LeFebvre, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Anne's Church, 26 Emerson Avenue, Hampstead, NH. A private family burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. Memorial donations may be made to the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA 02114.
