Obituary

Haverhill: William N. "Billy" Mercier, 63, a resident of Haverhill for most of his life, died December 30, 2018 at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston.
Born in Haverhill, he was the son of Norman and Marie (D'Amico) Mercier of Haverhill. He attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and Haverhill Public Schools, and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1974.


Billy was employed for many years at Western Electric Co., A T & T, and Lucent Technologies and later as a cook at Archie's Place, Ronnie D's and Primo Pasta and for the past seven years as a customer service representative for Jaffarian Volvo of Haverhill.


A lifelong member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and the former Saint Joseph Parish, he was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post #4 of Haverhill and the Haverhill Lodge of Elks and a former member of Troop 27 of the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed golfing as a member of the Saint Joseph Golf League, and bowling on leagues at Saint Joseph Bowling Lanes. He was a fan of all Boston sports teams, and was very devoted to his family.


Billy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his parents, Norman and Marie (D'Amico) Mercier of Haverhill, a brother and sister-in-law, Stephen A. and Andrea Mercier of Greenville, SC, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathryn A. and Steven Mscisz of Topsfield and Norma J. and Peter Phaneuf of Haverhill, two nephews, Christopher Mscisz and Michael Phaneuf, three nieces, Jennifer Mscisz, Alexandra Ange and husband Craig O'Brien and Danielle and husband Jack Schultz, and his aunt, Constance "Connie" Mercier of Methuen.


Relatives and friends are invited to Billy's Life Celebration to be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. His funeral will begin on Friday at 11:30 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 12:30 PM in All Saints Church, Haverhill.
