Atkinson, NH: William M. Nelson, age 91, a resident of Atkinson for twenty-eight years, died August 11, 2022 at Aspen Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Haverhill, MA.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late William E. and Astrid (Johansson) Nelson, he attended local schools and later received his degree in Accounting from New York University. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, Mr. Nelson served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1951 until his discharge from The Coast Guard Reserves in 1954.

Mr. Nelson' s career as an accountant and manager for IBM spanned twenty-five years,  first in Brooklyn and later at the Yorktown Heights, NY offices. He was transferred to the Boston office in 1974, from where he later retired.

A resident of North Andover for twenty years until moving to Atkinson in 1994, he was a member of the National Chapter of The American Legion. Devoted to his house pets and any animals that visited his property, he enjoyed boating and fishing, tending his vegetable garden and maintaining his yard.

Predeceased in November of 2021 by his devoted wife of sixty-seven years, Lucile E. (Johnson) Nelson, he will be missed and remembered by, a daughter and son-in-law, Karen E. and William Smith of Atkinson, two sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford W. and Kathleen Nelson of Deerfield, NH, and Paul C. and Sherri Nelson of Webster, NH; eight grandchildren, David, Mark, Holly, Keith, Laura, Eric, Marina and Lucas; and eight great-grandchildren, Brooke, Levi, Kevin, Summer, Brodie, Ruthie, Pilot and Aero. He was also predeceased in December of 2021 by his son, William E. Nelson.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral home, of Plaistow.
