Obituary

William Henry Greenwood, Jr. “Bill”, 96, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Nevins Nursing & Rehabilitation in Methuen, Massachusetts.

Born and raised in Haverhill, Bill was the beloved son of the late William Henry Greenwood, Sr., and Doris (Jolivet) Greenwood.

Bill was a devoted man of faith and community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a Sunday School teacher at Holy Angels Church. After retiring from Raytheon, where he worked as a materials expediter, he continued to give back to his community as a crossing guard. In his younger years, Bill also enjoyed boxing and competed as a semi-pro as a teenager. Above all, Bill loved his family dearly, especially his late wives, Barbara (Moore) Greenwood.

Bill is survived by his son, William H. Greenwood III; his brother, Wayne Greenwood; Bill will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered his granddaughter, Jennifer Baierlein and her husband, Otto; and his four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Elizabeth, Emily, Otto. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his daughter, Gail (Greenwood) Rodrigues, and sisters, Frances Gray and Irene Baldwin.
