Obituary

William S. Burnham, 84, of Ocala Florida, died August 26th, 2018 at TimberRidge Rehabilitation Center. He was born on March 24th, 1934 to Margaret and Gilbert Burnham in Providence R.I.

Bill graduated Samuel Gorton High School, class of 1952, where he excelled academically and athletically in baseball, football. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea earning the National Defense Service and Good Conduct medals.

He married Myrna Joyal, on June 29th, 1957 and they had 4 children, William Jr., Stephen, Lynn and David.

Upon his military discharge, he completed a tool-maker apprenticeship starting a 40 year technical career. He retired from Tech-Ceram Corporation as its President, Chief Executive Officer with several patents relating to semiconductor manufacturing and metalized ceramic.

He was an avid New England Patriots fan, a master woodworker specializing in whirligigs and stunningly beautiful lighthouses. After returning from combat duty in Korea, he played AAA baseball in Georgia and was a standout pitcher and catcher and earned a tryout with the N.Y. Yankees. Bill was a man with unwavering integrity, a wonderful sense of humor, a razor sharp wit and a ready smile, he will be lovingly remembered.

Bill is survived by, and will be profoundly missed by his wife of 10 years Virginia (Ginny) Stoffyn, children Bill Jr. and his wife Debra, Stephen and his wife Ann-Marie, Lynn Singster and her husband Paul and David and girlfriend Kerry, grandchildren Jennifer, Nichole, Paul Jr., Jeffrey, Krysten, Justin and Lisa, great-grandchildren Tyler, Brody, Jaxon and Jameson and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrna, his mother Margaret, his father Gilbert and his brother, Gilbert Jr.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow N.H. Service will immediately follow with Pastor Paul Dionne officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to the American Diabetes Association.
