Obituary

Atkinson, NH:  Wayne A. Corson, 73, of 37 Maple Avenue, Atkinson, NH and formerly of North Andover and Amesbury, MA, died on October 14, 2019 due to complications of pneumonia.

Born in Peabody, MA, the son of the late Douglas and Susan (Edgecomb) Corson, he attended school in Salisbury, MA and graduated from Newburyport High School with the Class of 1964. Wayne was an Automotive Racing Engine Machinist and owned and operated his own business, Corson Racing Engines. He designed and built race engines in cars for many local race tracks including Pines Speedway, Groveland, MA, Star Speedway, Epping, NH, Lee Speedway, Lee, NH, New England Dragway, Epping, NH and also Oswego Speedway, NY, and was known by the nickname of "Dr. Horsepower." Over Wayne's racing career he powered over 100 championships. Even Darrell Waltrip drove in a Corson powered race car for a local event. Also, there are many hotrods and muscle cars still running strong with his engines. We believe Wayne is now in his "heavenly home" working on God's engines.

Wayne was one of the pioneers of Grass Drag Snowmobiles and a member of the National Federation of Independent Business. In his leisure time, Wayne enjoyed restoring and playing antique Fender guitars, carpentry, WWI biplanes, cooking and restoring his dream home. He loved spending time with his wife and cats and would insert encrypted notes in his wife's lunch bag and take great care of the cats. Wayne and his wife Justine were meant to be together.

Wayne will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Justine (Juarez) Corson; a sister Laura Jayne Corson of Richmond, ME; a son, Barry J. Corson and his wife, Alexa of Raymond, NH; two daughters, Heidi L. Corson of Newburyport, MA and Sally A. Rogers and her husband, Patrick of Amesbury, MA; a step-daughter, Rachel E. Barrett and her husband, John of Windham, NH; two step-sons, Brian A. Tasker of Methuen, MA and Blake C. Tasker and his wife, Frances of Danville, NH; grandchildren, Elise Rogers, Clara Corson, Danna  Barrett, Victoria Sibeleski, Eva Tasker and Elinor Tasker; his former wife, Cherry Bean of Amesbury, MA; his ten cats, Cutee Pie, Ike Turner, Tina Turner, Dasee Duke, Lucee Love, Annee Oaklee, Buffalo Billee, Rudolph Valentino, Alvin York and Johnny Cash. He was predeceased by a sister, Andrea Sue Kennedy who died in 2002, and his cats, Otis Redding, Curious George, June Carter Cash and Killa Monsoon.

There will be no calling hours or service. A private family celebration of His Life will be held at a later date. Final arrangements include cremation to be buried at Hillside Acre Cemetery in Methuen, MA with his wife and beloved cats.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hillside Acre at Nevin's Farm, c/o MSPCA, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.  Arrangements are under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.
