Atkinson, NH: Walter F. Marston, 88 of Atkinson, died Monday, September 3, 2018 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
Born in Haverhill, MA, son of the late Raymond and Leona (Patten) Marston, he was educated in the Haverhill Public School system and attended the former Haverhill Trade School. He was employed as a machinist at Western Electric Co., A T & T Technologies and Lucent Technologies for thirty-three years, retiring in 1990. A resident of Atkinson since 1991, he was a former twenty year resident of Plaistow.
Mr. Marston was a member of the West Congregational Church of Haverhill and the Young At Heart Club, The Telephone Pioneers of America and the Communication Workers of America. In his younger years, he was a Golden Gloves Middleweight Boxer. A man with a great sense of humor and a ready smile, he enjoyed passing on jokes and funny stories to his family and friends. He also enjoyed bowling and playing cards.
Predeceased by his wife Marie (Thibodeau) Marston in 2008, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Judyann M. Hagen of Plaistow, Linda M. Soares and her husband David of Plaistow and Kim M. Dovey of Atkinson, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Raymond, Richard and Edward.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours to be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at West Congregational Church, 767 Broadway, Haverhill. His funeral service will follow at 12:15 at the church with committal service immediately following at Eternal Light Mausoleum in Salem, NH.
