IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vittorio "Victor"
Ximenes
April 5, 1933 – December 10, 2025
Vittorio "Victor" Ximenes, 92, of Sandown, NH passed away peacefully at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading, MA on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 after a long illness.
Victor was the only child of Antonio Ximenes and Carolina (Tadini) Ximenes of Milano, Italy. His father Antonio was a Colonel in the Italian Army, knighted by the King of Italy after World War I, who renounced his knighthood and was banished after the appointment of Mussolini. His mother was born in Spain and raised Victor in the shadow of world war, often asking Victor why his first answer to any question was "No!". After the war, Victor worked odd jobs in Paris and then emigrated to Canada as a young man seeking technical work. After itinerant technical work that took him across Canada, Victor then emigrated to the U.S. eventually landing in New Hampshire in the 1980s.
Victor was a lifelong student, earning five separate engineering and technical degrees over a 40-year span beginning in the 1960's and lasting until the early 2000's, when he mastered computer science in his seventies. His wealth of technical knowledge served him well as he worked on a range of civil engineering, energy and environmental projects in the U.S., Canada and Africa. He also pursued a lifelong passion for aviation, earning his commercial pilot license and designing aircraft components in his spare time.
Victor was a well-known Sandown resident for over 30 years, living in his "little house in the woods" that he designed and built to his specifications. He was a frequent visitor and volunteer at the local library, and the hardware store. He was a voracious student of world history, religion, politics and all things engineering, and could speak, read and write in four languages. His local friends will fondly remember Victor's intellect, wit and sharp tongue, as well as his warm smile.
Victor leaves behind a group of long-time area friends who will miss him dearly, as well as distant relatives in Italy and New York.
On behalf of Victor, we would like to thank the caring staff at Beth Israel Lahey Health hospice care, Area Home Care, and the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, all of whom brought compassion, friendship and comfort to Victor during his final months.
Victor was a longtime supporter of St. Jude's Children Hospital, and donations in his memory are appreciated. A graveside service will be held in the Spring.
