Virginia M. (Smith) Janes, age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday August 15, 2025. She was predeceased by her husband William B. Janes, son-in-law Sonny A. Wright and granddaughter Kayleigh R Janes.

She is survived by her brother-in-law Jack Janes, her children Barbara Wright, Susan (David) Fortson, Stephen (Nancy) Janes and Brian (JoAnne) Janes, her grandchildren Jason (Michelle) Wright, Jonathan (Amy) Wright, Jeffrey (Cindy) Janes, Katelynn Wright and Justin Fortson, and her great grandchildren Thomas, William and Brooke Wright. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Virginia retired from the FBI after twenty-six years of service as a support services technician. She enjoyed reading, taking walks with her dog Honey Bunny, trips to the beach, gardening and camping with her family in Maine. She especially loved cooking Sunday dinners for her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
