Beverly, MA: Virginia M.  (Johanson) Bliss, 91, a resident of Hampstead for the past five years, and formerly of Beverly, Massachusetts, died April 4, 2022 at her home.

Raised and educated in Lynn, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Corine (Rydberg) Johanson, and graduated from Lynn English High School. Mrs. Bliss was employed as a secretary at Traveler's Insurance for most of her career and had previously worked at the Plumbers and Electrical Workers Union.

An avid reader of suspense novels, Mrs. Bliss was accomplished at knitting, crocheting and gardening. She also enjoyed bird watching, dancing to Big Band Music and her weekly visits to her local beauty salon. She was generous to her favorite charities which included the Northeast Animal Shelter, the MSPCA, St. Joseph's Indian School in South Dakota and Alzheimer's Disease Research.

She was predeceased in 2010 by her devoted husband of fifty-four years, Richard E. Bliss, and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark S. and Annette Bliss of Upton, MA, Scott E. Bliss and Susan Lee of Hampstead, and with whom she has made her home since 2017, and Lance S. and Anne Bliss of Marshfield, MA; a brother Alan Johanson of Peabody, MA, four grandchildren, Alaina Posluszny, Amy Bliss, Hannah Bliss and David Bliss, two great grandchildren Eleanor and Lincoln Posluszny, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday morning, April 11, 2022 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. in the funeral home and followed by burial in Seaside Cemetery, Gloucester, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in memory of her late husband be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA.
