Vincent M. Cardarelli, age 89, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.
He was born on February 26, 1926 in Lawrence, MA the son of the late, Michael N. and Josephine (Salvucci) Cardarelli. He was raised and educated in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1943. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. Vincent had worked as a chemist/color matcher in the local shoe industry for nearly 50 years. Vincent was appointed to the Haverhill Council on Aging and was an active member from 1990 - 2005.
He took pride in his home and especially in his yard, with a view of the Merrimack River. He enjoyed tending to his garden and will be remembered for the tomatoes and flowers which he grew. Vincent was also very proud of his Italian heritage, and was a member of the Victor Emanuel Lodge #1646 Sons of Italy in Haverhill. He always looked forward to his monthly gatherings over coffee with his family.
Vincent is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pauline M. (Boulet) Cardarelli of Haverhill, his daughter, Lisa Murphy and her husband, Atty. Brian R. of Methuen, MA, his son, David J. Cardarelli of Haverhill, MA and his grandson, Lake Murphy. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by his brothers; John, Mario and Joseph Cardarelli.
Family and friends are invited to attend Mr. Cardarelli's Life Celebration on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 4 - 7 PM at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA 01832. His funeral will begin on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 9 AM at the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at 10 AM at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue in Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Haverhill.
