Obituary

Haverhill: Victoria N. (Selvaggio) Hammond, 90, of Haverhill and a former longtime resident of Plaistow, died peacefully on May 22, 2020 at Hannah Duston Longterm Care Facility in Haverhill.

Born in Haverhill on December 25, 1929, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Angela (Adzarito) Selvaggio, she attended Tilton School and graduated Haverhill High School with the Class of 1947.

Mrs. Hammond worked for several years at Western Electric Co of North Andover, but was primarily a housewife and homemaker and was dedicated to her family. She was a member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and the former Saint Rita's Parish and the Ladies Sodality.

Mrs. Hammond enjoyed trips to the beach and rides along the coast. She enjoyed lunch every Wednesday with her best friend Arlene Cartier, as well as the time she spent with her friend Jane McLaughlin as well as the many times and events that she shared with her loving family. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her three sons, Gary T. Hammond of Haverhill and his dear companion Suzanne Godin, William J. Hammond of Haverhill, and David W. Hammond and his wife Julie, of Atkinson, NH, six grandchildren, Garrett Hammond, Sarah Hammond, Emily Hammond, Mitchell Hammond, Catherine Hammond and Alexander Hammond,  and nieces and nephews Ernest Bassi, James Bassi, Nicholas Selvaggio, Maryann Selvaggio, Diane Schwab, and Jim Schwab. She was predeceased by her brother Vito Selvaggio and her sister Josephine Bassi.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hannah Duston Long Term Care Facility for the wonderful care and kindness provided to their mother during her five year residence at the nursing home.

Due to the present national health emergency, the services and burial in Saint Patrick's Cemetery will be private for family only and under the direction of Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. A Memorial Mass and Celebration of her Life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
