Hampstead, NH: Victor W. Denoncour, 97, of Hampstead, NH and formerly of West Rochambault St., Haverhill, MA, died on November 25, 2020 at the Prescott House Nursing Home in North Andover, MA.
Born in Haverhill, MA, the son of the late Emile J. and Zenobia M. (Jette) Denoncour, he attended St. Joseph's Grammar School and graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1941. Mr. Denoncour enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corps in 1943 and after completing military basic training, he attended the Air Force Service School to continue his training. He served our country honorably until his discharge in 1946 with the rank of Sergeant and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, The World War II Victory Medal and Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon.
Mr. Denoncour was employed as a Reliability Engineer for Raytheon, retiring in March of 1986, after thirty-one years of service. A member of St. Anne's Parish, Hampstead, NH and a former member of St. Joseph Parish, Haverhill, MA, he enjoyed the music of the big band era. A member of the Airplane Owners and Pilots Association, he was very interested in aviation and aviation history and obtained his recreational pilot's license at the age of seventy-two, and enjoyed flying to small rural airfields in Maine. He was also an avid Alpine and Nordic skier for a large part of his life.
Predeceased in 2015, by Rita M. (Alexander) Denoncour, his beloved wife of sixty-eight years, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Henry "Hank" Gardner of Atkinson, NH; his son and daughter-in-law, W. Scott and Jane Denoncour of North Berwick, ME, five grandchildren, Michele T. Gibbs and her husband Robert of Atkinson, NH, Christopher S. Gardner and his wife Ryan of St. Louis, MO, Kelly Pride and her husband Nicholas of Candia, NH, Taryn Dupuis and her husband Justin of Berwick, ME, and Chris Foss and his wife Nicole of Dover, NH, six great-grandchildren, Victoria, Nicholas, Paige, Emersyn, Evelyn and Weston and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Hector and Robert and sisters, Claire, Marguerite, Lillian, Dorothy, Eleanor, Priscilla, Pauline and Jessie.
Private family funeral services will be held at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH and followed by burial with military honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill, MA. The family requests that donations be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA.
