Atkinson, NH: Velma M. Barrett (Collins), 90, died at her home in Atkinson, NH on December 29, 2018.

Born in Newport, VT, the daughter of the late George and Gladis (Huntington) Collins, the family moved around a bit for George's work, eventually settling in Merrimac, MA where Velma was a member of the graduating class of 1946 at Merrimac High School.

Velma worked as a secretary at the University of New Hampshire. She was a big fan of Shirley Temple and enjoyed watching her movies time and again. Above all else, Velma loved her family.

She is predeceased by her husband of fifty-five years, Robert E. Barrett. Velma will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Diane Elizabeth Barrett of Atkinson, NH, sons, Bruce R. Barrett of Rhode Island and David M. Barrett and his wife, Becky of Ohio, grandchildren, Heather and Erik, and great grandchildren, John and Kay.  She was predeceased by her brother, Arthur Collins.

A private burial will take place in the spring.
