In Loving Memory of Valerie Joan Geary

June 17, 2026

Valerie Joan Geary, lovingly known as “Val,” passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives.

Raised in Stoneham, Massachusetts, Val later settled in Kingston, New Hampshire, where she built a life centered on family, friendship, and caring for others.

Val was the beloved wife of Chuck Geary. Their love story began at Kingston Lake, New Hampshire, where they first met as children. What began as a childhood friendship blossomed into a lifelong romance, and together they shared nearly 46 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

She was a proud and loving mother to her son, Ryan Geary. Val dedicated her life to caring for her family and supporting those she loved, always placing the needs of others before her own.

Val is survived by her husband, Chuck Geary; her son, Ryan Geary, and his partner, Klaus Grim; her mother, Josephine Hopkins; her brother, Ron Hopkins and his wife, Beverly Hopkins; her sister, Nancy Hopkins; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Rodney Hopkins. She also leaves behind numerous friends and extended family members who will forever treasure the memories they shared with her.

Val found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time at the lake, enjoyed shopping both for herself and everyone else she knew, and had a remarkable gift for turning casual encounters with strangers into lasting friendships. Her caring nature, warm heart, and selfless spirit made her a source of comfort and strength to everyone around her. Whether offering a listening ear, a helping hand, or words of encouragement, Val always put others first.

Those who knew Val will remember her for her compassion, generosity, and unwavering love for family and friends. Her legacy of kindness and service to others will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we take comfort in the many wonderful memories she leaves behind. Val will be deeply missed and forever loved by all whose lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to honor Val’s memory perform an act of kindness for someone in need. Val spent her life helping others, often placing their needs before her own. The greatest tribute to her memory is to extend the same compassion, generosity, and love that she shared so freely throughout her life.

“To live in the hearts of those we love is never to die.”

May she rest in peace. ❤️
