Timothy J. Jacobs, “Tim,” 73, of Plaistow, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Franklin, New Hampshire, Tim was the son of the late Frederick O. and Madeleine F. (Perreault) Jacobs and grew up alongside seven siblings. After graduating from Franklin High School in 1971, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his service, Tim was stationed in Thailand, an experience he would continue to talk about throughout his life. He served honorably from 1971 to 1975 before returning to New Hampshire, where he attended Plymouth State College and graduated in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

A lifelong New Hampshire resident aside from his military service and travels, Tim grew up in Franklin and later lived in Rochester for more than 30 years. He built a long career in materials management, operations and information systems. His work with Cabletron Systems took him around the world, including an assignment in Ireland. Later, Tim joined Madison Resources as a software developer, where he remained until retiring in 2018.

Of all the roles Tim had throughout his life, however, being a father was the most important to him. He had always wanted one child—a daughter—and when Erin was born, he had exactly what he had hoped for. She remained at the center of his life throughout the years. Tim was especially happy when Erin later joined him at Madison Resources, where they worked together for nearly two years. During that time, they began a tradition of weekly lunches that continued long after Tim retired.

Becoming a grandfather brought Tim tremendous joy. He was convinced from the beginning that Erin was having a girl—even before the family knew for certain—and couldn’t have been happier to be right. He was especially tickled that Maddy was named after his mother, Madeleine, and proudly told others about the connection. He loved spending time with Maddy and was often amazed by the things she was learning and could already do.

Tim was a private and unassuming man who never sought the spotlight or wanted a fuss made over him. He was happiest with the simple things in life and had little interest in extravagance. He was proud of earning his private pilot’s license, something he devoted considerable time and effort to achieving, but he could take just as much pride in keeping his lawn looking just right. Practical and self-sufficient, he took care of what needed taking care of and was content with what he had. He could often be found watching a western or the news and liked to know what was going on in the world.

Travel remained a regular part of Tim’s life, and he continued to take trips for pleasure throughout the years. A creature of habit, he knew what he liked—right down to his tried-and-true BLT on wheat—but was also open to trying new things, particularly during his travels. He loved seafood and never quite understood how his daughter could feel otherwise, often offering Erin a bite knowing full well what her answer would be. Tim also enjoyed joking around and teasing, and those who knew him well knew his playful side.

Tim cared deeply for the people in his life and was someone others could count on. That same quiet willingness to help could be seen in his longtime commitment to donating blood through the American Red Cross. He was especially proud to have recently received his two-gallon donor pin.

Tim will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his only daughter, Erin Lamprey and her husband, Stephen, of Plaistow, New Hampshire; his cherished granddaughter, Madeleine “Maddy” Lamprey; his sisters, Robin Hernandez of Bay Shore, New York, Lisa Dubia and her husband, Thomas, of Sanbornton, New Hampshire, and Sally Beauman and her husband, Jeffrey, of Saunderstown, Rhode Island; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings Jon Jacobs, Thomas Jacobs, Susan Bishop, and Ted “Teddy” Jacobs.

A private family graveside service was held with the rendering of United States Air Force honors.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Tim’s memory are invited to make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Red Cross. In the spirit of Tim’s longtime commitment to giving, those who are able may also consider donating blood in his memory.
