Thomas H. "Tom" Painten, age 83, long time resident of Atkinson, NH died on January 4, 2025. Tom was born in Atkinson on December 26, 1941, son of Arthur E. Painten and Mary Belle (Maclean) (Macdonald) Painten. He was educated in the Atkinson school system and graduated from Sanborn Seminary in Kingston, NH in 1959. Tom joined the U.S. Army shortly after school for 3 years and spent 19 months in South Korea as a Communication Specialist and Cryptographer. After being honorably discharged, he worked in construction as a carpenter, retiring in 2004.
Tom leaves his beloved daughter Melissa Barron and her husband Chris of North Andover, MA, and two wonderful granddaughters Brianna-Marie Barron of Charlotte, NC and Samantha Barron of Worcester, MA.
He was predeceased by his son Daniel Painten, ten brothers, and two sisters. Tom leaves many nieces and nephews. Special nieces Janice Vinci of Bradford, MA and Beth Huberdeau of Atkinson, NH. Also, long-time friends Robert Comeau of North Conway, NH, George Kutzelman of Atkinson, NH, Joe Archambaut of Plaistow, NH, and Bill Eaton of Atkinson, NH. He was also a friend of Bill Wilson since 1985.
Tom would like to thank all the wonderful people at the Haverhill VA clinic for all the great care that he received there.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 10 AM in Atkinson Cemetery, Atkinson, NH. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his name, Thomas H. Painten to the Wounded Warrior Project:https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org
