Born in Long Prairie, MN, son of the late Carl J. and Ruth Anne (Akin) Jensen, he was raised and educated in North Central Minnesota, and graduated from Dassel High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Mr. Jensen enjoyed a long career as a developer of medical assays and testing equipment for medical facilities and was employed for fifteen years by Instrumentation Laboratories of Lexington, MA, and later worked for various startup companies. In 1997 he founded Jensen Crafts Enterprises and operated Tom's Custom Framing on Route 125 in Plaistow, until his retirement in 2003.

Mr. Jensen was a member of the American Chemical Society, The Danville Baptist Church and was active for many years at Island Pond Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.

Known as "The Story Man" at the old Hampstead Library where he enjoyed regaling children with his stories, he also loved country and classical music and knitting sweaters and vests that he sold, as well as donated to countless numbers of children over the years. He knitted samples for two New York City knitting designers' coffee table books and was featured in a Sunday Union Leader article about his creations.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of fifty-three years, Dr. Mona Dickson Jensen, Ph.D., a son Aaron R. Jensen of Hampstead, a daughter Carla L. Jensen, of Maryland, a brother James J. Jensen of Florida, and a sister JoAnn Barker of California.
