Obituary

Haverhill: Therese J. "Tess" (Beaulieu) Barnaby, 100, a longtime resident of Haverhill and formerly of Crystal St., died October 18, 2020 at Wingate at Haverhill.

Born in Lawrence, daughter of the late Joseph T. and Blanche Irene (Beaulieu) Beaulieu, she attended Saint Patrick's School and was a member of the Lawrence High School Class of 1938. She attended Stratford Business School and as a young woman was employed for several years as a stenographer at Cambridge Mutual Fire Insurance in Andover.

A longtime and active member of All Saint Parish of Haverhill and the former Saint Joseph Parish, Mrs. Barnaby served as a Eucharistic Minister and on several committees for the parish and the school. She was an accomplished artist and member of the Greater Haverhill Arts Association and Haverhill Ultreya group and the Cedardale Health and Athletic Club.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Barnaby enjoyed creating a warm, loving and inviting home for her large family and she delighted in cooking for them, and hosting family gatherings and holidays, especially Christmas Eve. She took courses in furniture restoration and rug braiding, tailoring and sewing and also enjoyed, dancing, arts and crafts and researching her family genealogy. Many of her oil paintings and drawings hang in the homes of family and friends.

Predeceased in 1999 by her husband of fifty-six years, Robert J. Barnaby, and in 2017 by her son, Robert J. Barnaby,Jr.,  she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by five sons and their wives, John M. and Christine Barnaby of Merrimac, Michael N. and Carol Barnaby of Haverhill, Gary C. and Nancy Barnaby of Andover, Brian T. and Annette Barnaby  of Pelham, NH and Jeffrey J. Barnaby of Pelham, two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan B. Carragher of Danville, NH, and Louise A. and Andrew Boucher of Goffstown, NH, a brother C. Robert Beaulieu of Portsmouth, NH, fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter Nicole Barnaby, her son-in-law, Daniel Carragher and her sister Mary Olive Brobst.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Boadway, Haverhill, under the pandemic guidelines of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for social distancing and the wearing of masks. Her Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday  morning, October 23, 2020 at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill and followed by burial in Saint Joseph Cemetery. Those attending the Funeral Mass are required to follow the same guidelines for social distancing and  masks, as well as providing names and telephone numbers after having their temperatures taken before entering the church. The family requests that memorial donations in Mrs. Barnaby's name be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN .
