Obituary

Haverhill: Therese M. (Metz) Beckshaw, 84, formerly of Janet Road, Haverhill and Lyons Mouth Road in Amesbury, died June 24, 2015 at Wingate at Haverhill, following a long illness.

Born in Epfig, France, daughter of the late Henri and Adrienne (Weber) Metz, she was educated in French Schools before moving to the United States at the age of 19. She lived in Washington D.C., where she attended Secretarial School and was employed as a hostess in her late uncle's restaurant. There she met and fell in love with her late husband John W. Beckshaw. They were married in Saint Matthew's Cathedral on November 20, 1954 and moved to Haverhill in 1957 where she lived for most of her life and raised her family.

Mrs. Beckshaw was employed first as an office clerk at Lawrence Central Catholic High School and later in the Treasurer's Office for the City of Haverhill and finally as the Assistant Librarian at Haverhill High School, from where she retired.

A member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and the former Saint Joseph Parish, she was also a longtime member of the Ladies Of Saint Anne Society and The Haverhill Women's City Club.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Beckshaw enjoyed cooking, sewing, vegetable gardening and bicycle riding around her neighborhood. She was an avid bowler and member of leagues at Academy Lanes in Bradford and also enjoyed trips to Rye Harbor, and her many return trips to France with her husband and sons to visit family and friends.

Predeceased by her husband John W. Beckshaw in 1996, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her two sons and daughters-in-law, John A. and Maureen Beckshaw of Medford, and Robert S. and Michele Beckshaw of Haverhill, a sister, Madeleine Metz of Ville, France, five grandchildren, Alaina Rose Beckshaw, John Lawrence Beckshaw, Matthew Thomas Beckshaw, Marie Patricia Beckshaw, and April Therese Beckshaw. She was predeceased by a sister Henriette Metz.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Life Celebration to be held on Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, NH.
