Obituary

Thelma (Arahovites) (Daigneault) (Case) Whitton, 91, a resident of Haverhill all of her life, died June 17, 2020 at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center.

Born raised and educated in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Peter Arahovites and the late Josephine (Gagnon) (Arahovites) Pappas and step-daughter of the late Anthony Pappas. She was a graduate of Saint James High School and a member of All Saints Parish and the former Saint Joseph Parish.

Mrs. Whitton was formerly employed at Laird and Schoeber and Brentwood Furniture where she worked as an assembler and retired from Gould Electronics, Inc. after several years of employment.

A devoted wife, mother and proud grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Whitton was an avid bingo player and also a longtime and active member of the Women's Auxiliary of AmVets Post # 147 and enjoyed traveling with them to local, state and national events.

Predeceased by her husband James F. Whitton, Jr. in 2012, her second husband Past Commander of AmVets Post  # 147, Lester E. L. Case in 1980 and her first husband Emile Daigneault in 1968, she was also preceded in death by her son Alan Daigneault. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Arthur Vekos of Haverhill, a daughter-in-law Jackie Daigneault of Haverhill, eight grandchildren; Robert Vekos and his wife Kathy, Gregory Vekos, Lisa Roy and husband Andy, Cheryl Kenney and husband Thomas, Stephanie Lavoie, Christina Greenwood and husband Tim, David Daigneault and wife Colleen and Dawn Arahovites and husband Michael, step children; Robert Whitton and wife Roberta, Donna Morse and husband Paul and Judy Easley and husband Charles, and several great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by her sister Pauline Arahovites and brother John Arahovites.  The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hannah Duston Healthcare Center for the wonderful care and support extended to Mrs. Whitton and her family during her residency and final illness.

Private family funeral services and burial in Saint Joseph Cemetery, will be held under the direction of Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA.  The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Childrens' Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN or to Shriners Hospital of Boston, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA.
