Exeter, NH:Thelma P. Pine, 95, of Exeter, NH died peacefully Thursday, September 6, 2012, at Riverwoods, her home for the past three years.
Born, raised and educated in Seabrook, NH, Thelma was the daughter of Benjamin L. and Christine E. (Robinson) Perkins. She had lived in Needham, MA for fifteen years and Huntington, Long Island, NY for twenty years before moving to Atkinson, NH in 1987 and then to Riverwoods in Exeter in 2009.
As a young woman, Thelma was an active member of the Grange and worked in her family's popular eatery, Perkins Barbecue, in Seabrook. As young parents, she and her husband, Richard K. "Dick"' Pine, drove across the USA with their children several times, in the days before cars had air-conditioning. After the children were grown, the couple traveled throughout the world, including Hawaii, Europe, Hong Kong, Australia, Afghanistan, and Alaska.In the years after the death of her husband in 1975, she travelled with her younger daughter to China, Europe and Mexico.
Primarily a housewife and homemaker, Mrs. Pine was a member of the Atkinson Congregational Church and the P.E.O. She researched and compiled extensive genealogy records for her family and volunteered with the Friends of the Kimball Library in Atkinson for many years.
Thelma was a quiet woman, known for her thoughtfulness, generous caring, and easy smile. She was beloved by her many dear friends and her family, to whom she was devoted.
She was predeceased by her husband and by her brother Samuel Perkins, who died in 1946.She is survived by her children; Judith P and husband, Robert D. Edwards, of Pacific Palisades, CA; Robert N. "Bob"' and wife Becky Pine of Groton, MA; and Nancy Pine of Revere, MA.Also survived by her sister, Shirley Sanborn of Seabrook, NH; five grandchildren, Karen Edwards, Jennifer Edwards, Shaaren Pine, Raji Pine and Marissa Yeakey; three great grandchildren, Ara Magine, Norman Yeakey and Thomas Roby VI; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.A memorial service will be held at The Ridge, Riverwoods onFriday, Sept. 14th at 11 am. Memorial donations may be made to the Kimball Library, 5 Academy Ave., Atkinson, NH 03811.
