Sylvia Mary (Jodoin) (Rival) Gird, 84, of No. Chelmsford and formerly of Haverhill, MA and Plaistow, NH, died on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the Lifecare Center of Merrimack Valley in Billerica, MA.

Born, raised and educated in Whitefield, NH, she was the daughter of the late Hector and Eva (Bergeron) Jodoin.   She moved to Haverhill as a young woman and was employed at Western Electric Company, North Andover and retired from Karelitz Wood Heel Company.

A resident of Plaistow, NH from 1989 – 2011, Mrs. Gird was a member of the former St. Joseph's Parish, Haverhill and the former Holy Angels Parish, Plaistow, NH.  She enjoyed cooking, traveling, motorcycling and driving her lawn tractor.   She loved to dance, especially the Polka with her husband Stanley.  One of the items that she was able to cross off her bucket list was an exciting helicopter ride.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley Gird; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy L. (Rival)  and Danny Jones of Ft. Myers, FL;  three grandchildren, Michael Porter, Christopher Nardone and Andrea Cabrera and several nieces and nephews.  She was pre-deceased by a sister, Pauline Goudreault and two brothers, George and Albert Jodoin.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 1:15 PM at the BERUBE-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA to form a procession to St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill for a graveside service at 2 PM.
