Susan M. (Bird) Palmer, 68, of Groveland, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Shand Palmer, who survives her, and together they shared a life full of love and care on their small farm, where they cherished the companionship of horses, donkeys, and various birds over the past decade.

Susan was born in Lynn, MA, on March 30, 1956, to the late John and Mary (Macdonald) Bird. Raised and educated in Haverhill, MA, she graduated from Haverhill High School in the Class of 1974. Throughout her life, Susan was a steadfast friend to animals of all kinds—whether big or small, domestic or wild. She took great pride in creating beautiful and functional barn living spaces for her many pets, including horses, ducks, chickens, guinea fowl, and even a donkey or two. Susan's deep love for animals extended to her four beloved dogs and a cat, who were always by her side.

In her free time, Susan found peace and joy in simple pleasures, such as spending evenings around an outdoor fire at her Groveland home, or relaxing on a porch with her family and dogs while enjoying the fresh sea air of Plum Island. After retiring, she enjoyed photography, crafting jewelry, reading, and indulging in all things Harry Potter.

Besides her devoted husband, Susan is survived by her daughters, Michelle Duquette and her wife Vanessa, and Samantha Langlois and her husband Scott. She was also the proud grandmother of Blaise Ross, Angelleah Ross, and Dresden Ross, whom she adored beyond measure. Susan is further survived by her three brothers, an aunt, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA. Her funeral service and interment will be held privately.

Susan's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
