Newton, NH:  Stephen G. Root, 75, of Newton, NH, died on January 19, 2022 at the Exeter Hospital, Exeter, NH.

Born in Newburyport, MA, the son of the late C. (Clarence) George Root and Emily (Brown) Root.  He attended schools in Ohio and Pennsylvania and graduated from Swarthmore High School, Swarthmore, PA.  Stephen has resided in Newton, NH for the past 6 years and had previously lived in Groveland, Ma and Acton, ME.  He worked as an Oil Burner Technician and as a self-employed painting contractor.

He was an avid gardener who enjoyed music and playing the guitar and piano.  Stephen was a Jack of all trades and enjoyed woodworking and taking on household repairs.  He loved all animals, especially dogs.

Stephen will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of forty-two years, Ellen M. (Kiman) Root, son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan E. and Meaghan Root of Townsend, MA.  He was pre-deceased by a brother, Richard Root.

At the request of the family, there will be no services.
