Obituary

Stephen O. Miller, 68, of Hampstead, New Hampshire, passed away on Saturday March 14, 2026, at the High Pointe House in Haverhill, Massachusetts, with his cherished family by his bedside.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Olin and Therese (Stanton) Miller, and was raised with his three brothers in Natick, Massachusetts where Stephen was a graduate of Natick High School, Class of 1976. Stephen married Pamela (Thurston), of Hopedale, Massachusetts on September 13, 1980.

Stephen was a faithful servant in many ministries at Island Pond Baptist Church for over thirty years, serving as a deacon, lay pastor, adult Sunday school teacher, and singing bass in the choir. His passion was the youth ministry, for which he served as director for fifteen years. Stephen could usually be found in the church kitchen making pizza or brownies for the latest gathering. His booming voice and contagious laughter could be heard all over the church. Stephen exemplified the command to love God and love his neighbors (Matthew 22:37-40).

Stephen worked in construction for nearly forty years, at East Coast Lumber in Hampstead, NH, Ricci Lumber in Portsmouth, NH, and Gove Lumber in Beverly, MA. In 2007, he opened Builder’s Plan Service and worked as a residential building designer. Stephen took great pride in designing homes that took his customers’ unique needs and desires into account. He was a member of Business Networking International’s Wolf Pack chapter for eleven years and embodied the BNI core value of Givers Gain.

Stephen will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, of forty-five years, Pamela T. (Thurston) Miller of Hampstead, New Hampshire, cherished daughter, Christina Hirst and her husband, Charles of Edmond, Oklahoma, three brothers, Thomas Miller and his wife, Barbara of Ashland, Massachusetts, Frank Miller and his wife, Janet of Beverly, Massachusetts, and, James Miller and his wife, Joanne of Mendon, Massachusetts, treasured grandchildren Stephen and Franklin, as well as many dear nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to services at Island Pond Baptist Church, 26 North Salem Road, Hampstead, NH 03841. Calling hours will be April 24, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be held the following day on April 25, 2026, at 10:00am, at Island Pond Baptist Church. As Stephen would have wanted, food and fellowship will follow.

Donations may be made to the Island Pond Baptist Church youth ministry fund at islandpondbc.com/giving.
