October 23, 1962 – April 17, 2020
Danville, NH: Stephen J. Mace, 57, of Danville, NH, died at his home surrounded by family on Friday April 17, 2020, after a short, courageous battle with brain cancer.
Born in Haverhill, MA, he was the son of the late William J. and Claire E. (Hanlon) Mace, and grew up in Danville, NH attending the area schools. He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army.
'Mace' was a bartender extraordinaire for many years at the Crow's Nest in Plaistow, NH. Described as stubborn but positive, many of his regular patrons became great friends of both Steve and his family. His twinkling blue eyes and sharp wit were an irresistible combination.
He loved his family, his dog Justice, and showcasing his tremendous skills on the pool table.
Steve led his pool team, "Mace's Aces", to multiple tournament victories in various Granite State APA competitions over the years. The expression "Atta Peppa" has become their rallying cry.
Stephen will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his son, Tyler Mace and his girlfriend Brittany Swiger of Danville, NH, brother, William Mace and his wife Deborah of Bow, NH, sister, Claudine Dias and her husband Carl of Kingston, NH, granddaughter, Harper Mace of Danville, NH, longtime close companion, Denise Washburn of Ohio, "step daughter", Shay Harrington of Pelham, NH, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Due to the National Health Emergency, funeral services will be held at a later date under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.
