Obituary

Haverhill: Stanley E. Yawnitz, 70, a longtime Haverhill resident, died April 10, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

Born in Haverhill, son of the late Edward S. and Idella  (Corthell) Yawnitz, he was raised and educated in Plaistow. He was a member of the Haverhill Trade School Class of 1965 and served in the U.S. Army as a Specialist 4 during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Yawnitz was employed for several years as a truck driver for the former Lionel Lavallee Beef Co. and later worked for thirty-five years as a stock clerk and shipper and receiver in the warehouse of the Gillette Co.

He attended Saint John the Baptist Church in the Riverside section of Haverhill and was a member of the Carl Davis Post of the American Legion, Plaistow.

Known as a "Jack of All Trades" he enjoyed making birdhouses, lighthouses, and board games for family and friends. He was an avid card player and enjoyed working on cars with his mechanic and gardening and working in his yard. He was a devoted family man and looked forward to decorating his home for the Christmas and Halloween holidays.

He is survived by his loving wife of thirty five years, Judith A. (LaPierre) Yawnitz, daughters, Dottie A. Robinson and her husband Steven of Surfside Beach, SC, Tammy L. Cooper and her husband John of Danville, NH, Pauline A. Goutier of Haverhill, and Pamela J. SansCartier and her fiancé John Gallant of Haverhill, sons, Ricky A. Jones and his wife Anna, Joseph L. Jones and his partner Bill Keefe and Chester A. Jones, all of Haverhill, six grandchildren, Felicia, Tia, Illona, Serena, Desiree and Corey, four  great-grandchildren and  three great-great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Life Celebration to be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St. Plaistow, NH.
