Haverhill: Sophie J. (Zak) Previs, 75, a resident of Haverhill for fifty years, died October 19, 2022, eleven days before her 76 ^th birthday, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.

Born in Mielec, Poland, daughter of the the late Josef and Maria (Duszkiewicz) Zak, she attended schools in Poland, including a local culinary school.

Arriving in the United States, she settled in Haverhill in 1971, and was employed  at Western Electric Co, AT & T Technologies, and Lucent Technologies. She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish, All Saints Parish and the Polish Club of Haverhill.

An accomplished baker and cook, and always the life of the party, Sophie enjoyed entertaining and spending time with family and friends. She also took great pride in her flower and vegetable gardens and always looked forward to her walks around the neighborhood.

Predeceased in 1983 by her husband, Walter Previs, she is survived by a daughter, Urszula M. Mansur and her husband Charles Frederick of Derry, NH, a brother Stanislaw Zak of Poland, and grandchildren Matthew Mansur and Mariah Mansur, step-grandchildren Jess Zylak and her three children and Jenn Bowser and her two children, and a friend Anthony "Tony" Abramowski of Hampstead, NH. She was also predeceased by her brother Boleslaw Zak.

A private burial service will be held on Thursday at Saint Patrick Cemetery, Haverhill, under the direction of Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, Haverhill. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date for family and friends.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations to help defray the burial costs of Sophie, be made directly to Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA 01832.
