IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sheila A.
Desimone
July 8, 1946 – August 18, 2023
Seabrook Beach, NH: Sheila A. (Gallipeau) DeSimone, 77, of Seabrook Beach and formerly of Haverhill, MA and Plaistow, NH, died peacefully at home, on Friday, August 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving and devoted family.
Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, Massachusetts, daughter of the late R. Frank and Eleanor H (Felker) Gallipeau, she was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1964. She worked as a dressmaker and seamstress all of her life and established her business, The Blushing Bride, at her home on Smith Corner Road in Plaistow. She worked from home for many years before relocating it to a location on Route 125, serving generations of brides and their wedding attendants and mothers of the bride, as well as hundreds of young women needing gowns for local high school proms. She also lent her talents to people that required something specially created by a woman who was an expert in her field of work.
A resident of Plaistow for thirty-eight years before moving to Seabrook Beach in 2014, Sheila was a longtime member of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish and the former Mary, Mother of the Church Parish of Newton, NH. She was named the Miss Newburyport Yankee Homecoming Queen as a high school sophomore in 1962.
A gracious and kind woman who easily made everybody around her feel comfortable and special, Sheila was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who was an avid Red Sox fan. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, decorating, cruising, and spending time at the beach.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her, loving husband of fifty-eight years, John J. DeSimone, her five devoted daughters, Lisa A. Vertigen and her husband, Simon, of North Conway, Jody M. Chaisson and her husband, Michael, of Newton, Maria T. DeSimone, of Avon, CO, Gina M. Lynch and her husband, Robert, of Sandown, and Tia A. Travers of Sandown; seven grandchildren. Meagan, Kya, Michael "Mikey", Chloe, Addison, Danica, and Callie; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard A. and Suzanne Gallipeau of Ft. Pierce, FL, a sister, Miriam H. Chevalier, of East Kingston, a sister-in-law, Janice Gallipeau, of Atkinson, a brother-in-law, Rob Caron, of East Kingston, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Michael Travers, her brother Reinie Gallipeau, her sister, Deborah Caron and a brother-in-law Raymond Chevalier.
