Shawn Patrick LaFontaine, 54, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, MA passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Thursday, June 4, 2026. He was the beloved son of Nancy (Beede) and Richard LaFontaine.

Shawn was born on August 2, 1971 and was raised and educated in Haverhill, graduating Whittier Tech with the carpentry class of ‘89. He went on to work for various employers and contractors before starting his own business, Advanced Floor Covering. He was a skilled craftsman laying floors in the Merrimack Valley for over thirty years. Shawn was well known for his impeccable flooring, attention to detail, and longevity of work provided to his customers, friends, and family.

He fondly remembered his time in Hockey and took full advantage of his ‘position’ as enforcer. Shawn also enjoyed time in the garage with dirtbikes, motorcycles, and his Camaro. Shawn worked on the car for years, pouring his heart and soul into it. Other, less notable vehicles of his were more-often seen on the track at Rockingham Speedway’s annual Halloween Howler or being towed away from similar enduro races. He also loved nature, animals, gardening and herbalism, inheriting the Beede’s defiant green thumb. Shawn was known for walking around Haverhill and Plaistow with his Blue Eyed Leucistic snake, Manny.

Shawn loved his neighbors, friends, family, and sons more than life itself. He was an incredible father, brother, and son. And showed to all around him the strength of true resilience and redemption. He lived a clean life for twenty years, proving against perfection and serving as an inspiration for all persons who carry their faults. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Besides his parents, Shawn is survived by his sons Cameron and Coty LaFontaine of Plaistow, NH, his former wife and the mother of his children Heather (Crossman) LaFontaine, his sister Tracy Huberdeau and her husband Brian of Haverhill, MA, his nieces and nephew Brittany Huberdeau, Kaitlin Huberdeau and Dan Marion, and his long-time girlfriend Milly Mindes of Tewksbury, MA. He also leaves behind several loved aunts, uncles and cousins.

Shawn was sadly predeceased by his infant son Kaden LaFontaine and foster brother Jason Noury.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, June 14, 2026 from 4pm – 7pm at the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home 116 Main St. Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will start at the funeral home on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 9am. A funeral mass will follow at 10:30am at All Saints Parish in Haverhill, MA. Interment in Plaistow Cemetery.
