Derry, NH: Sharron J. (Carter) Bakeman, 75, a longtime resident of Derry, died peacefully on August 8, 2020, at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry.
Born, raised and educated in Methuen, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Harry and Irene (Dalton) Carter, she graduated Methuen High School with the Class of 1962 and later graduated McIntosh Business School in Lawrence. She was employed for many years as the Senior Transcriptionist of the Research Lab at MITRE Corporation in Bedford.
Sharron met her husband David Bakeman while roller skating and they were married in 1983. They enjoyed twenty-three years of marriage before he predeceased her in 2006.
Sharron was a great lover of the outdoors and enjoyed cross country and downhill skiing, camping, canoeing, and hiking the White Mountains and the Appalachian Trail. As a young woman, she enjoyed traveling with her high school girlfriends across the United States and Europe.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three daughters; Carol Driscoll of Duxbury, MA, Wendy Lavallee and her husband Leonard of Enfield, NH, and Gail Dolan and her fiance, Dr. Les Harding of Jay, Maine, five grandchildren; Megan Greenstein and Laurie McCone of Duxbury, MA, Beth Lavallee of Salem, NH, Chief Timothy Dolan, USN, stationed in Japan, and Steven Dolan of Topsham, ME, and several great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of Compassionate Care Hospice and Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, for the wonderful and loving care extended to Sharron during her stay and final illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service on Wednesday, September 16, at 10:15 a.m. in Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH, followed by burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Methuen, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 18 Orchard View Drive, Londonderry, NH.
