Obituary

Effingham, NH: Ruth A. (Allwood) Rene', 72 a resident of Effingham for the last six years and a former longtime resident of Plaistow, died January 5, 2022, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Arthur and Dorothy ((Dicker) Allwood, she was raised and educated in Tewksbury and attended local schools. Ruth was a member of the Tewksbury High School Class of 1967, where she was a member of the Girls Varsity Softball and Basketball Teams. A former member of Saint William's Parish of Tewksbury, she also played basketball for her parish in the Archdiocese of Boston C.Y.O. League.

A resident of Plaistow for forty-one years before moving to Effingham in 2016, Ruth was first employed as an administrative assistant at King Davis Real Estate and later she worked as a Clerk for eighteen years for the U.S. Postal Service in Kingston and Newton, NH until her retirement.

A woman of strong faith, Ruth was a former but very active member of Holy Angels Parish of Plaistow, where she served as a CCD teacher and member of the Legion of Mary. She was also a former member of Saint Anne's Parish of Hampstead and was presently a member of Saint Joseph's Parish of Center Ossipee, NH, and has always been an active member and strong supporter of her church community.

Ruth has been a wintertime resident of Fallston, MD for several years and enjoyed gardening, quilting, rug braiding and knitting. Her favorite pastime was watching her grand-daughters compete in sports.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of fifty years, Paul J. Rene', a daughter and son-in-law Erin and Todd Wetzelberger of Fallston, two grand-daughters, Elise and Claire Wetzelberger of Fallston, a brother Arthur Allwood Jr., and his wife Sue of Illinois, a sister Joan Derr of Grand Rapids, MI, a sister-in-law Joan Ricci of Seabrook, NH, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Janet Giles.

Relatives and friends are invited to Ruth's Life Celebration to be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin on Friday, January 14, from the funeral home at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne's Church, Emerson Avenue, Hampstead, NH. Burial will follow in Plaistow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Kaufman Cancer Center, Univ. of MD Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, 500 Upper Chesapeake Drive, Bel Air MD, 21014.
