Methuen: Ruth E. (Anderson) Hancock, 88, a former resident of Nashua and Lowell, died June 3, 2017 at Berkeley Retirement and Nursing Center in Methuen.
Born in Worcester, daughter of the late John and Lucy (Mosher) Anderson, she was raised and educated in Lowell and Franklin and graduated from Lowell High School. She was first employed in the textile mills of Lowell and later for thirty-three years as an assembler at Raytheon Corporation.
An avid reader, she enjoyed watching television soap operas and reading magazines. She was also very devoted to animals especially her pet dog and cat.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Michael Hancock of Billerica, and a daughter Paula Hancock of Ashland, a son-in-law Christopher Wahlen, of Plaistow, NH,  a brother Donald Anderson and his wife, Viola of Dracut, a sister-in-law, Joan Anderson of Westford, four grandchildren, Melissa Melesky of Newton, NH, Shaun Shanahan of Tyngsboro, Jeffrey Shanahan of Plaistow and Brian Hancock of New Jersey, also twelve grandchildren, one great grand-daughter and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter Sheryl Wahlen in 2010, brothers, William Anderson and Robert Anderson, and sisters Betty Apostelakis and Gloria Brady.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will take place on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the funeral with burial to follow in Plaistow Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the New Hampshire SPCA, 104 Portsmouth Avenue, Stratham, NH.
