Russell Lee Smart Sr., age 70 of Danville, passed away at his home on March 4, 2016. He was born on November 20, 1945 in Lynn, MA the son of the late, Albert and Leona (Collyer) Smart. He was raised and educated in Lynn. Russell served his country honorable in the U.S. Army. He served in both Germany and completed 2 tours in Vietnam as an aircraft mechanic. Russell worked in general maintenance for the Timberlane Regional School District for 20 years. He was a spiritual man and a very active member of "The Rock" Church in Plaistow, NH. He loved being a member of the choir there. Russell will be remembered as a person who always wanted to help everyone.
Russell always liked to stay active. He was a member of the local VFW Post 4479 in Raymond, NH and American Legion. He was proud to be a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Freemason.
Russell is survived by his wife of 33 years, Deborah J. (Curtin) Smart of Danville, NH. His sons; Jeremy Smart and David Smart. Many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and grandchildren also survive him. He was predeceased by his son, Russell Lee Smart Jr.
Family and friends are invited to attend Mr. Smart's Life Celebration on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 3-7 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street (Rt. 121A), Plaistow, NH 03865. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 11 AM at The Rockingham Church, 90 Newton Road, Plaistow, NH 03865. Burial with Army military honors will follow the service in the New Hampshire State Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
