Newton, NH: Russell D. Estabrook, 89, a lifelong resident of Newton, NH, passed away on April 20, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Newton, NH, he was the son of the late Raymond and Annie (Thompson) Estabrook. Russell attended Newton Schools, graduating from Sanborn Seminary in 1952. After school, he worked at Estabrook's Garage for his Uncle Ralph, then his father Ray, eventually buying the family business with his twin brother, Roland. He later sold it to his son Ralph. This year the family celebrates 100 years of their automotive business.
Russell married Patricia Gould in October in 1955, together they shared 67 years of marriage.
Russell loved his yard and had beautiful flowers. He also enjoyed making wooden things, both large and small, such as toys and tables. Russell had poodles over the years and after retirement he took his beloved "Snuggles" everywhere he went. His last dog was "Daisy" whom he rescued.
Russell and his brother were the proud owners of a camp on Province Lake. He loved most when his friends and family would come to the camp and enjoy water skiing, fishing, swimming and going out on the boat. Russell cherished the many great memories made at the camp with grandchildren.
Following in his Dad & Uncle's footprint, Russell belonged to the Newton Fire department, eventually working his way up to Chief. He served his community for fourteen years. For many years Russell & his wife enjoyed leading the Santa Parade in his beloved bronco on Christmas Eve in Newton NH.
Russell will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Patricia (Gould) Estabrook, their sons; Russell Estabrook, Jr. and his wife Sandra of Newton, NH and Ralph Estabrook of Newton, NH. Grandchildren; Joshua & wife Melinda, Brittany & Husband Dave Kenneally of Newton, NH, Kaitlin & husband Anthony Dickens of Newmarket, NH. Russell leaves behind two great grandchildren, Jackson & Levi Dickens. He was predeceased by his sister, Louise Arnold and his twin brother, Roland Estabrook.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Monday, April 29, 2024 from 4-7pm at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home in Plaistow, NH. His Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 10:00am at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Newton, NH.
