Plaistow, NH: Roy J. Lajoie, 76, husband of Bonnie (Chabot) Lajoie, died on May 19, 2020 at Lahey –Hitchcock Medical Center in Burlington, MA, following a brief illness.
Born in Rochester, NY on May 26, 1943, the son of the late Bernard and Albina (Boulanger) Lajoie, he attended Sacred Hearts Grammar School and was a member of the Lawrence Central Catholic High School Class of 1962. He attended Merrimack College, North Andover, MA, and was the Vice-President of Northshore Automatic Vending Co., which he operated with his late father-in-law and mother-in-law Roland and Yvonne Chabot. He later joined the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for the Town of Amesbury, for twenty years until his retirement.
A longtime resident of Plaistow, Roy was a member of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish of Plaistow and a fifty-year and a 4 th Degree member of Saint Jude Council of the Knights of Columbus.
Following his retirement, Roy enjoyed following and filming the hockey careers of his three grandsons, Matthew, Cameron and Blake throughout local arenas.
In addition to his loving wife of fifty-four years, Bonnie L. (Chabot) Lajoie, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his son and daughter-in-law Jason and Rory Lajoie of Plaistow, three grandsons, Matthew, Cameron and Blake Lajoie, all of Plaistow, a sister Jackie Eramo and her husband Richard of Abbington, MA, two nephews, two nieces, and several cousins and good friends. He was predeceased by a son Matthew Roland Lajoie. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A private wake service was held for the family under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Holy Angels Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish at a later date. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Capital Campaign of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, 8 Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow NH.
