Obituary

Rosemarie Chooljian, lovingly known as Nunny, who raised three boys, seven grandchildren, and brought joy to hundreds of Timberlane Wrestlers and Market Basket shoppers, died on July 19th in Haverhill, MA. She was 92.

Rose is the beloved wife of Robert Chooljian, with whom she shared 71 years of marriage. They met at Haverhill High School and spent many years traveling internationally (she'd want you to know they went to Aruba 14 times), swing dancing, and attending Timberlane Wrestling matches and any activity their grandchildren were a part of. Bob and Rose also shared relaxing summers at their camp on Great East Lake.

Rose was born on July 16, 1933 into a loving Italian family. Her parents, the late Dominic and Mary (Giampa) Pallaria, raised Rose and her five siblings in Bradford, MA. Rose was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1951.

For 47 years, Rose worked as a cashier for Market Basket, retiring from the Plaistow location. Her line was always famously long, as Rose always took time to check in on "my customers" and had an uncanny recollection of the latest deli and produce prices.

And after work was through, Rose was a fierce bingo competitor. Readers of the Eagle Tribune may have seen the announcement about her last big win in April, for the $1,000 coverall, which she cut out and proudly displayed on her dining room table.

The Red Sox and Patriots front offices may not have been notified but Rose was also a very critical member of both teams' management. She was also a former member of the Lioness Club in Plaistow.

Family meant everything to Rose. Besides her husband, Bob, she is survived by her sons Mark Chooljian and his wife Michelle of Hampton, NH and Barry Chooljian and his wife Carrie of Hampstead, NH, her grandchildren Danielle, Rachel (Wayne), Rosie (Chad), James (Sarah), Robert (Mariah), Lauren (Matt), and Cara, and her great grandchildren Dominic, Dylan, Madden, Arabella, Luna, Calum, Ruby, Theodore, and Frederick. They will all miss her tremendously, especially on Christmas Eve, when everyone looked forward to Nunny's famous eggplant parmesan and meatballs.

Rose is also survived by her siblings Dominic Pallaria and his wife Norma, Frank Pallaria and his wife Shirley, and Marian McNamara.

Rose was predeceased by her son Robert Chooljian Jr., her sister Mary Clementi, and her brother Joseph Pallaria.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, July 27 from 1pm – 4pm at the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St. Plaistow, NH. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, July 28th in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Plaistow Cemetery.
