Merrimac, MA:  Rose N. (Smith) Comeau, 86 of Merrimac and a former longtime resident of Haverhill, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 12, 2022.

Born, raised and educated in Hope, Arkansas, daughter of the late John and Viola (Littles) Smith, she graduated from the local high school, where she was a member of the school choir. She later attended college in Texarkana, TX where she trained to be a licensed hair dresser. It was there that she met the love of her live, Richard Comeau, who was stationed nearby in the service. Soon after they married and relocated back to his hometown of Haverhill.

Mrs.Comeau was employed in the local shoe industry and later in the housekeeping department at the Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge in Haverhill. An accomplished cook and baker, she was known for her pies, cakes and always popular fudge. An avid reader, she also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crewel work, and taking long drives.

Predeceased in 2016 by her beloved husband of sixty years, Richard H. Comeau, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Sherryl D. Comeau of Merrimac and a son, David A. Comeau of Haverhill, sisters-in-law, Norma Wildes of Haverhill, and Janice Gulubicki of Atkinson, NH, brothers-in-law Robert Comeau of North Conway and Tom Graham of Mississippi, a niece, Kimberly Simon of Atlanta Georgia, a nephew Dudley Kindrick, of Plain City, Ohio, and many other extended family members and friends. She was also predeceased by her sister Jonnie-Sue Graham.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rose's Life Celebration to be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will follow at 4:30 p.m. in the funeral home. The family suggests that those who wish could make donations to the charity of the donor's choice.
