Obituary

Haverhill: Roscoe F. "Bucky" Jenkins, Jr., age 72, a native and lifelong resident of Haverhill, died suddenly, on Saturday March 27, 2021, after being stricken at his home.

The son of the late Roscoe F. Jenkins, Sr. and the late Mildred (Rogers) (Jenkins) Grover, Bucky attended Haverhill schools and graduated from the former Haverhill Trade School, where he was a member of the Varsity Football, Baseball and Basketball Teams. He served honorably as a Specialist 4 in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 until 1972 and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal.

Bucky worked for most of his career in the Maintenance Department for the Haverhill School Department and was assigned to the Haverhill High School, the High School Pool and finally at the Tilton School until he retired nine years ago. He was a member of All Saints Parish and the former Saint Joseph Parish.

With a lifelong dedication to Hockey as well as local youth, he served as an assistant and head coach for the past forty-five years. He was active in the Haverhill Youth Hockey program and Haverhill/Pentucket Thunder Hockey program and served several years as Assistant and Head Coach for the Whittier Regional High School Hockey Team and the Haverhill High School Hockey Team. He had also served as President of the Whittier Hockey Boosters, the Haverhill High School Hockey Boosters and as the Haverhill Youth Hockey representative to USA Hockey.

An avid golfer, Bucky enjoyed spending many summers at his camp at the Hidden Valley Golf and R.V. Park in Derry. He also enjoyed classic movies and trips to the White Mountains and the bird sanctuary on Plum Island.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of fifty-two years, Sandra J.  (Kelleher) Jenkins, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeremy C. Jenkins and Erica Marsh of Haverhill and Benjamin C. Jenkins of Newton, NH, a sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Christos Christopher of Danville, NH, three brothers and a sister-in-law, Bryant and Debbie Jenkins of West Newbury, Barry Jenkins of Manchester, and Shawn Jenkins of Newton, NH, a brother-in-law, Keith DeRusha of New York, two grandchildren, Aidan Jenkins and Kaya Jenkins and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara DeRucha.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, under the Commonwealth of Massachusetts guidelines for social distancing and the wearing of masks. His funeral service with burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Bucky Jenkins Scholarship Fund, P.O.
