East Hampstead, NH: Ronald C. Grant, 73 a resident of Hampstead since 1987, died November 21, 2021, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, son of the late Daniel J. and Beatrice (Hudson) Grant, he was raised and educated in Woburn, graduating Woburn High School with the Class of 1966. He later went on to receive his Associates Degree in Architectural Engineering from Wentworth institute.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Ron served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1968 until 1972 as a Seabee and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star Device, The Meritorious Unit Commendation, The Vietnam Campaign Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces MUC with Gallantry Cross and the Sharpshooter Medal.
Ron was employed by Stone and Webster for fourteen years and later worked as the Assistant Facilities Manager for fifteen years at Middlesex Community College in Bedford, MA
He was a member of the Island Pond Baptist Church and volunteered at the Pregnancy Care Center as a member of the Men's Ministry. The "Ultimate Handyman" Ron enjoyed working around his home and there was nothing that he couldn't fix. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was most comfortable around his home spending time with his family.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-three years, Linda A. (Carner) Grant, four daughters, Kerri McPherson and her husband Erik of Derry, Sherri Wellman and her husband Johnny of Manhattan, KA, Kristi Freeman and her husband Glenn of San Antonio and Alison Grant of Sandown, a brother Daniel Grant and his wife Julie of Beverly, MA, Judy McGrath and her husband Edmund of Woburn and Sheree Zizik and her husband Ray of Gloucester and Florida, two grandchildren Hunter Wellman and Gregory Freeman and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Ryan Joshua Grant.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ron's life Celebration to be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. His funeral will begin on Monday at 9 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home and will be buried with Military Honors at the State of New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
