Salisbury, MA: Ronald E. Belmer, 77, of Salisbury, MA and a former longtime resident of Groveland for forty years, died on January 30, 2015 at Merrimack Valley Health Center in Amesbury.
Born, raised, and educated in Haverhill, MA, son of the late Robert and Dorothea (Howard) Belmer, he graduated from Haverhill Trade School with the Class of 1956. Mr. Belmer served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Mr. Belmer worked as a carpenter for local contractors and was later employed at Philips Academy and at Foss Manufacturing. In his later years, he was the well-known crossing guard at Dr. Elmer S. Bagnall School in Groveland.
A member of the V.F.W Lorraine Post, Mr. Belmer enjoyed traveling and vacationing in Las Vegas and St. Martin Island.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Patricia (Coulombe) Belmer, two daughters, Lynne A. Belmer of Haverhill, and Julie M. Belmer-Spencer of Groveland, three grandchildren, Tyler J. Belmer, Samantha L. Belmer, and Ava Spender, a sister, Judith Gagnon of Barefoot Bay, FL, a niece, and two nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Ronald L. Belmer.
