Newton, NH: Rodney M. Hoffman, 74, a long-time resident of Newton, NH, died peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at his home.
Born in Oxford, England, the son of Bernard J. and Elizabeth (Fowler) Hoffman, he was raised and educated in Baltimore, MD where he attended Kenwood High School, graduating in 1963. Rodney served in the U. S. Army as a Private First Class during the Vietnam Era. He was a communications worker and worked as a Millwright for Western Electric Co. in Baltimore, MD, and later transferred to the Merrimack Valley Works of North Andover, MA and continued his career at A T & T Technologies and Lucent Technologies, until his retirement after thirty-eight years of service.
Rodney was a member of the Newton Junction Baptist Church, Newton, NH and the Communication Workers of America. An avid New England Patriots fan, he enjoyed playing pool, bowling on local leagues, traveling through the State of Maine and obtaining and enjoying his favorite Maryland crabs. Many times he enjoyed the company of his wife Joanne, doing whatever she wanted to do.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of thirteen years, Joanne (Brodeur) Hoffman; four step-daughters, Lynne J. Connor of Quincy, MA, Lori S. Follo and her husband, Paul of Everett, MA, Lisa M. D'Angelo and her husband, Ernest of Kittery Point, ME and Sarah E. Reynolds and her husband, Jonathan of Black Hawk, CO, two step-sons, Joseph K. Fauteux of Derry, NH and Barry L. Fauteux of Bakersfield, VT; two brothers, Mark Hoffman of Bel Air, MD and Melvin Hoffman of Rock Hall, MD; eighteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may attend Rodney's calling hours and Life Celebration to be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019, from 10 to 11 AM in the Vestry of the Newton Junction Baptist Church, 18 West Main St., Newton, NH. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM in the church with Military Honors by the United States Army following the service. A reception will immediately follow in the Horace Williams Community Hall, West Main St.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newton Junction Baptist Church, P.O. Box 206, Newton Junction, NH. Arrangements are under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.
