Kingston, NH: Roberta (Willey) Deschenes, 83, a resident of Kingston for seventy-five years, died peacefully, surrounded by family on January 8, 2022 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill. Born in Exeter, NH, February 5, 1938, daughter of the late Albion P. and Mary E. (Savoy) Willey, she was raised and educated in Kingston and Newton and graduated from Sanborn Seminary.
Mrs. Deschenes worked first as a telephone operator and as a nurse's aid at Exeter Hospital, from 1961 until 1984, she and her late husband owned and operated the Amesbury Ski Tow, and finally in the food service department of the Bakie School until her retirement in 1990, where she greatly enjoyed her daily interaction with children.
Roberta served proudly as the President of Union Cemetery for over twenty years, was a member of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish of Plaistow and Newton and a former member of Saint Frederick's Church of Kingston.
An accomplished cook and baker, Mrs. Deschenes also loved knitting and reading. There was nothing Roberta liked better than an interesting conversation with a good friend, her daily morning phone call with her daughter, Dawn, coffee and breakfast with David and Brian and surprising her son in law Jeff with her famous apple pie. Roberta enjoyed people and could have an engaging conversation with anyone.
Predeceased in 2007 by her devoted husband of forty-eight years, Joseph R. Deschenes, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her two sons and daughters-in-law, David A. and Brenda Deschenes of Kingston, Brian J. and Courtney Deschenes of Kingston, a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Jeffrey LeSage of Salisbury, MA. Roberta's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Eric LeSage and his wife Bridget, Christopher LeSage and his wife Kimberlee, Michael Deschenes, Chelsie Jalbert and her husband Matt, Mackenzie Deschenes, Savannah Deschenes, and Graycie Deschenes, three great grandchildren, Molly and Max LeSage and Wesley LeSage and she was eagerly awaiting the birth of her fourth great grandchild. She was predeceased by brothers, Robert Willey, George Willey and Richard Willey, and sisters, Eleanor Senechal, Margaret Michaud, Helen Carlson and Pearl Willey.
A Graveside Service will be held in Union Cemetery, Newton, NH on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 10 AM under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St.., Plaistow, NH. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Way, Memphis, TN.
