Obituary

Bridgton, Maine: Robert J. Poley, 58, of Bridgton, died at his home on November 18, 2021, from complications of cancer and heart disease.

Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, son of the late James K. and Joan (Belanger) Poley, he attended local schools and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1981. As a young man, he played hockey as a member of the Haverhill Youth Hockey program and later for the Haverhill High School Hockey Team.

A former longtime resident of Haverhill, before relocating to Bridgton in 2018, Bob was employed as a pipefitter for thirty-eight years by several contractors thru Local 537 of the Pipefitters Union of Boston.

A member of the former Saint Joseph Parish of Haverhill, Robert was a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather, known as "Pops" to his grandchildren. He enjoyed all Boston and New England sports teams but especially the Boston Bruins. In his younger years he was a coach for the Smith's Tavern co-ed softball team. His favorite spot to be was on Moose Pond in Maine, where he enjoyed boating and waterskiing. He also enjoyed motorcycling all of his life as well as snowmobiling and alpine skiing.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife and longtime "palzie" of thirty-two years, Lynn (Biddle) Poley, two daughters, Tiffany Ghrist, and Amy Allard, both of Derry, NH, two grandchildren, James Allard and Hailey Allard, two sisters, Deborah A. DeBlois and her life partner John "Jake" Hamel of Bradford, and Cheryl A. Poley of Bradford, his brother, Shawn A. Poley and his wife, Robin of Rochester, NH,  an aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bob's Life Celebration to be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA. Unvaccinated visitors are requested to wear a mask.  All are requested to practice social distancing. His funeral will begin on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow, NH. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the MSPCA, Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA.
