Robert W. Loeffler, Sr, 81, long time resident of Plaistow, NH passed on Monday, October 17, 2022 from his longtime battle with Alzheimer's.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Veronica (Fitzmaurice) Loeffler; son Robert W. Loeffler, Jr. of Plaistow; son Thomas Loeffler and wife Staci of East Hampstead; and son Andrew Loeffler of Plaistow/Albany; four grandchildren Brian, Alex, Scott, and Ashlee. He is predeceased by his mother, Anna Loeffler, father, Ervin Loeffler, and brother Adolf Loeffler.
Bob was born on June 30, 1941 in Chicago, IL. He grew up on the south side of Chicago where he graduated from Harrison Technical High School. Shortly thereafter, Bob enlisted into the Army where he served two tours in Vietnam as a SP5 "Buck" Sergeant ". He worked as the crew chief aboard a caribou transport plane during his time spent in the military and was awarded the Honors of Air Medal.
Most of his career was spent as a manager of Lucent Technologies which relocated him and his family to NH in 1984. Bob retired from Lucent at the age of 48 and went on to enjoy working at local business's such as the Haverhill Gazette and Westville Supply, where he was known as "Hardware Bob". Bob spent time serving on the Plaistow Zoning Board for many years. He was also an active member of the of the American Legion Post 34 in Plaistow having served on the executive board.
Bob was a devoted father and loving husband often bringing his wife flowers just because he knew they made her happy. He thoroughly enjoyed being around his 3 sons and helping them in anyway possible. Bob was always there to lend a hand and constantly displayed helpful acts of kindness.
Bob had a passion for fishing and family road trips. He pursued his hobbies as much as he could in places such as Fort Myers, the great lakes, and Alaska. Additionally, he enjoyed many road trips around the country with his wife and boys in his conversion van known as the "Traveling Terrapin". He was quick witted, had a big smile, and was always ready to help. Above all, Bob was proud of his boys and loved his family more than anything. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Calling hours will be held at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home at 116 Main St, Plaistow, NH 03865 on Monday, October 24, 2022 from 3pm-6pm , followed by Military Honors. The family invites you to join them immediately following on Monday, October 24, 2022 from 7pm-9pm at the American Legion Post 34 at 176 Main St, Plaistow, NH 03865 for a celebration of Bob's life. In lieu of flowers, all donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of Bob.
